Hey everybody! Yesterday was Good Friday, where we remembered what Jesus did for us by dying on the cross for our sins, tomorrow is Easter Sunday, where we will celebrate Jesus’ resurrection, and today is National Pet Day, where we celebrate and appreciate pets everywhere, especially the ones in our lives! (Yes, it’s a real thing! You can learn more about it here if you’re not convinced.) Pets can bring us so much joy, companionship, and fun. Of course, we should take good care of our pets every day, but April 11 is the annual day where we can take extra-special time to show our furry (or feathered, or scaly) friends how much they mean to us. I’m giving BlaZe lots of extra attention today! Here is a list of some ideas I came up with to spoil your pet today. They’re also just great ways for you and your furry friend to have fun together while you’re cooped up in the house during the quarantine!

Fun Things to do on National Pet Day:

  • Have a longer playtime or exercise session

  • Donate to your favorite local animal shelter or rescue organization to help pets in need

  • Give your pet a nice grooming session

  • Learn more about your pet’s body language to better understand and communicate with them (which also helps with training!)

  • Adopt your next BFFF (Best Furry Friend Fur-ever) from a shelter or rescue instead of buying

  • Most of all, just give your pet lots of love!

Happy National Pet day everyone!  And have a Happy Easter tomorrow!

🐾Fun Fact!🐾

Not only are pets so much fun, but they also provide health benefits! Aside from the obvious fact that walking your dog is great exercise, many studies show that petting or playing with your pet can reduce stress and blood pressure levels. It also causes the brain to produce oxytocin, a chemical that helps you and your pet to bond with each other. So the next time you’re feeling overwhelmed or stressed out, especially with this pandemic going on, paws to give your pet some love!
