So yesterday was my dog BlaZe’s 4th birthday, and I still can’t believe it! It still seems like last week that I brought him home as an 8-week-old puppy. He has the best personality, a perfect combination of smart, sweet, and silly—not to mention lazy! I’m so glad he’s part of our family and I am looking forward to celebrating many more years with him!
For his birthday, I baked him some homemade cookies that were pretty easy to make and, according to BlaZe, really delicious! I used the same recipe that I used to make his birthday cake last year, except that I swapped out one of the ingredients this time. It made the cake batter much thicker than I had intended, which was how it became cookies instead! They still turned out great, though, and like I mentioned, BlaZe loves them! Here’s the link to the recipe if you want to make this special treat for your furry friend’s birthday (or just because). And if you want to turn the cake into cookies like I did (😂), just swap the 1/2 cup of applesauce for 1/2 of a banana. Also, just a warning to check the ingredients labels to make sure that the peanut butter or the applesauce you’re using does not contain xylitol, which is an artificial sweetener that’s toxic to dogs. Anyway, I’m sure your pup will love this treat as much as BlaZe does! Happy baking!
